.Net or SharePoint Developer at SalamanderSoft (Home Based, United Kingdom / Telecommute (Work from home. Must be UK based with a right of work in the UK))

SalamanderSoft is a small but growing software house providing integration and SharePoint products and services to the education sector in the UK. As part of our growth, we are now looking for a .Net developer to design, develop and implement our integration products and SharePoint web parts.

To date, I have been responsible for the whole business including all development, installation and support work. I am now looking for someone to take on some or all of the development work. Although there is one position, I would be prepared to fill this in one of 2 different ways:

1. A Senior Developer who would take responsibility for running the code-base and development process. As well as being a great programmer, I will be expecting someone to be able to analyse our current processes, suggest improvements and implement those which we agree on. You would have significant autonomy once you have proved yourself and be able to drive best-practices and processes.

2. A Junior developer whom I would mentor in the best practices I have been using. In this case I would continue to be very involved in development.

Our product set is written in C# using agile methodologies and has a heavy focus on SharePoint. The role could be full-time or part-time for the right candidate. It will be a home-based role so you will need to be comfortable and effective working from home. Although home-working sounds great it is not for everybody.

SalamanderSoft is a small company, and so although your main focus will be on development, you will undoubtedly need to perform other tasks as well, especially when other team members are unavailable. It is highly likely that you will need to deal with customers so you will need to be personable and happy in this role. The customer is always right!

In a Junior Developer I am looking for someone who:
* uses their initiative and gets things done
* has enthusiasm and interest in development and technology.
* has a hunger to learn new skills
* is someone whose interest in developing isn't just a 9-5 job. We will not expect you to work outside your hours, but I would expect you to be the type of person who looks to increase their skills in their own-time e.g. reading blogs, playing with new versions of products etc. These wouldn't necessarily be directly related to what you are doing day-to-day, just the mind-set we are looking for.
* ideally has experience of an object oriented language.
* Any exposure to agile methodologies would be a benefit, but not a pre-requisite.

In a Senior Developer I am looking for someone with the all of the above qualities plus:
* an excellent .net developer. I'd rather have an excellent .net developer, than a mediocre SharePoint one. Your programming skills will be way above average.
* is interested in agile methodologies and alt.net.
* has Test Driven Development experience.
* is able to juggle several projects at the same time.
* has experience and understanding of design patterns and refactoring.
* is able to take requirements and deliver a finished result using best practices.
* has a history of delivering successful projects.
* is someone whose interest in developing isn't just a 9-5 job.

Any open source contributions will be looked on favourably.

If you are interested in applying please send your CV with covering letter and availability to jobs@salamandersoft.co.uk. Benefits and salary will depend on the experience of the candidate. All applicants must be legally entitled to work in the UK and due to the nature of the sector we work in we require all employees will be Enhanced CRB checked.

We are building the next-generation internet marketing infrastructure.
We are well funded by the top VC in the Valley.
We are led by a team that is just off their last successful outcome.

We are looking for smart Java software developers and architects.

There are no hands-off architects or "managers" here. Everyone on the team participates in design, development, and deployment. We set absurdly high goals for cost efficiency and latency and we hit them.

The technology stack is straightforward - Java, Hadoop, Spring, Hibernate/JDO, Sql, Linux. Experience with high-volume service-oriented architectures is critical. Exposure to media buying (display and or PPC), social networks, optimization, and online campaign delivery is always valued.

Basically, if you want to create great software with a focused, experienced team and achieve punishing goals, then we might have an opening. We need to see a proven ability to define releases and get them out the door. Our engineering is software architecture, not scripting, so you need to be able to hold your own with strong engineers. But if you can, you will have a ball.
